troubles with brush tool

When I use the brush tool (Fireworks CS3), I loose control over the mouse.

When I select the brushtool, the brushcircle (mousepointer) will flash in a
high frequence and won't react on my mouse moves anymore or at least very
slowly. All other (simular) functions performs well.

 I can't imagine it's a processor or memory problem; I use a brandnew laptop
with Intel T7200 and 2Gb memory. Vista Home Premium is my OS. Already installed
Fireworks againg but the problem remains.

I hope you can help me. Thank you in advance!

I can't duplicate the problem on my machine [PC running Win XP SP2]. You
might want to contact Adobe Customer Service.

I have the same problem with any of the bitmap editing features. Perhaps it's something to do with the OS as I'm running Vista Business.

Thanks for the answers so far. I wrote earlier that the problem contains the
brushtool only but Joey's right: The problem of the flashing mousepointer
happens with all the bitmap tools.

I installed Fireworks on another PC (with Vista too) and this PC has the same
problem. Seems to be a major Fireworks/Vista bug.

I hope there's a trick (or solution) to avoid this not-to-work-with
toolproblem. Thank you in advance.

Ahhh, I figured it out. It's the Windows Vista Aero interface. If you disable
Aero, the problem goes away.

Here's instructions on how to turn it off:

I'm sure Adobe is aware of this problem right?

Yes, it's in the ReadMe :-)
If the Windows Appearance setting in Vista is set to ?Windows Aero? for the
color scheme, there may be performance issues when
using the Fireworks Brush tool. To solve this problem, change the setting to?
Windows Vista Basic".

Perhaps they'll fix it with a patch. Quite disappointing if they leave it broken like it is. :-(

Try updating to Java SE 6.
