Haze reduction

Need suggestions re reducing haze in PS3, Windows XP
Try this:

Unsharp mask, amount= 6 to 12%, radius= 70 pix, threshold=0.

Vary the amount to achieve best reduction without causing halos at extreme light-to-dark edges in the image. You can increase radius somewhat in very large images or decrease it in very small ones.

Or try an adjustment layer that increases contrast of the image as long as it does not make the shadows or highlights excessively compressed.

Thank you so much for the tip. So far the best I've been able to get is by using 20%, Radius 60 and Threshold 4 plus an S curve. This is for an slide scan of at white boat at Catalina with the hills in background that was taken in 1982. I have a copy that says I used a Haze Filter (on the tiff, not on the camera) that is better, but have no idea how I did it. Getting old is not good for the brain!
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Can you post (a reduced rendition of) the image at <http://www.pixentral.com/> ?
Some of us might have a go at it and describe how it's done.
