After automatically installing the recent CS3 update (which included ACR 4.1), Photoshop no longer listed Photomerge or "Merge to HDR" among the File>Automate options. I reinstalled the original CS3 version and those options reappeared.
Running Windows XP Professional (SP2) with 3.37GB RAM w/ Xeon 3.06 GHz processor.

I updated as well but still have the Photomerge and Merge to HDR
Automate functions.

Try resetting your preferences. Photomerge and Merge to HDR still show up for me. Another possibility: Check to see that you are using the full menu and not an alternate menu.
